Moms don’t remember days…..they remember moments! So how will you celebrate your special someone on Mother’s Day?

How about you give mom a gift from the Heart and celebrate her with portraits.

Mother’s Day is a day to celebrate the wonderful women in our lives. It is an opportunity to show her just how much you love her and what better way to do that but through artwork. How about a framed print or a fine art canvas of mom and her child(ren)?  This would be an everyday reminder that she would look at and past down for generations to come.

Mother’s day is two weeks away and everyone deserves to be honored. So who are these sessions for…MOTHERS! all mothers from… expecting mothers, new mothers, grandmothers, great grandmothers, even great great grandmothers (how about a generations image?). You can even gift these portraits to your sister, your aunt, or even a dear friend. How about you can even gift portraits to yourself.

The Details: This year we will be offering to background options of either black and white to keep with the timeless modern portraits. All sessions are available within a 30 mile radius of zipcode 21044, additional charge if outside of our serving area.

Days and times will be served on a first come basis. You can purchase this special up until Mother’s Day, May 13, 2012 and sessions must be completed by June 30, 2012.

I am super excited about this years sessions and all the wonderful families I will get to meet for the first time and all those families I will get to see again.

I love living in a digital world as it gives us an opportunity to show you how your portraits will look on your walls. Designing different wall collages are so fun and open so many different options from canvases to framed artwork. What can be better than seeing what size would work best over your fireplace, your baby’s crib, or in your bedroom?

During a home portrait session I am able to take a picture of your nursery, living room, bedroom etc. to design possible portrait collection. Or you can always send us a picture after your session and we will design a great display for you.

Here are a couple of samples to what we can do.

Love – a wildly misunderstood although highly desirable malfunction of the heart which weakens the brain, causes eyes to sparkle, cheeks to glow, blood pressure to rise and the lips to pucker.  ~Author Unknown

Today is a day of love and a day that most people take an extra step to tell someone “I love you.”  Expressing your love on a daily basis is not easy to to do every day but make sure you take the time to show how much you love them.

Take the time to capture a single photo of your love one doing what he/she loves to do best. Take a single photo of your newborn baby nursing or just gazing in the sky. Whatever it is that makes you very loved make sure you capture those memories every day.

A Single Photo wanted to wish you and your loved ones a Happy Valentine’s Day!

I am sure most of you heard on the news or read in the newspapers that you can no longer have portraits taking of your baby’s birth. Hospitals are not allowing photographs to be taken until 5 minutes after the baby is born. To some individuals they may not understand, but it is very important to some parents to capture their child’s beautiful journey through birth photography.

I know birth photography is not for everyone but not allowing a family to capture those memories saddens me. Birth Photography is a very intimate experience and I remember having the opportunity to photograph my nephew’s birth almost 11 years ago. I remember how emotional my brother and his wife was when they were blessed with a healthy baby. This was a special moment that they will be able to cherish forever.

To me this was a very important event that was missed and something I always regret that I did not remember to pack my own camera. When I had my daughter almost 14 years ago all I could remember was wanting to capture the very moment that my child entered this world. I remember daydreaming about how I would have these images of my child and being able to document those raw feelings when my baby was rested on my chest. I wanted to have all those images of my baby being weighted and getting her first foot prints completed. However, the only picture I have of my daughter in the hospital was when she had her hospital picture taken. I truly appreciate the nurse taking a picture of my child when she was all cleaned up with her cute stocking on her head. But, boy do I wish I had all the pictures of the family and friends that visited and were able to hold her for the first time.

I have always vowed to myself that if I ever had another child I would make sure I get those memories put on paper. However for now those images will forever be embedded in my mind but I will always wish I could of past on these tangible memories for my child.

Family…..what do you consider family to be?  Is it the nuclear family with a mom, dad, 2.5 kids or is a family to you a blended family household? Well it does not matter because Families today takes on different meanings and it does not mean your family is any less important or valued then the next family structure.  A lot of families that I have taken portraits of over the years had different structures : nuclear, single parent, same sex families, adopted and blended families. A Single Photo  loves meeting every family and it is a pleasure to tell their family history through portraits.

So….No matter what kind of family you have one thing always rings true and has the same feeling and that is LOVE. Whether it took you a while to conceive or you are a fertile myrtle or you waited months to adopt… remember it does not matter how your family was developed as long as there is love in your family. I find the most pleasure in capturing the newness of a baby from prenatal to the newborn session because I can truly feel the love during their family session.

One of the things that I promise to do is capture  life, love, and family in 2011. It does not matter if you decide to go to a professional photographer or take snapshots at home just make sure you capture the love of your family.

Wishing your family the best in this New Year.
